Deep in the Valley of "Basse-Conie", the preserved natural marsh zone covers an area of humid habitats which are becoming ever more rare in France and Europe.

A few kilometres north-east of Châteaudun, in the cultivated environment of the plain of Beauce, the Conie valley is a haven of greenery that is home to an original flora and fauna. The former communal meadows, where the inhabitants used to cut the reed for making rouche roofs (still visible in Dheury), have given way to beautiful reedbeds and various specific wetland woodlands.
