Acidic marshes are conducive to peat formation, produced by decomposing moss.

Exposed, the limestone rock now shelters small portions of lawns with pioneer species: annual plants, lichens, and the small associated fauna, locusts, lizards and butterflies. These orchid lawn landscapes, which have been damaged by deposits of waste, rubble and fill, will benefit from long-term preservation thanks to the combined efforts of the municipality and the Conservatoire, which have signed a 10-year agreement for the use of 4.97 ha.
