EXHIBITION 2024: "Bicycles with auxiliary motors

From the motorcycle to the bicycle with auxiliary motor! As early as 1897, brothers Eugène and Michel Werner registered the word "motocyclette". Until then, motorized two-wheeled machines were known by a variety of names, such as "autocyclette" and "pétrolette". On the first Werner, the motor was mounted above the front wheel. Shortly afterwards, the Werner family patented an arrangement for the motor at the bottom of the frame loop. A solution common to the BMAs presented. BMA? BMA stands for Bicyclettes à Moteur Auxiliaire. Small machines weighing less than 30 kg and capable of 15 km/h on level ground, seen as early as 1904...
