The unfinished aqueduct in the gardens

If you’re looking for some wonderful French gardens designed by Le Nôtre (the King's own gardener) to wander through with your loved one, you’re in the right place. Beyond the formal gardens and cutting through the grounds of the castle are the remains of an incomplete aqueduct, originally designed to transport water from the Eure River to the Royal Palace at Versailles. Take some time to relax on the deckchairs by the pond and admire the remains of this gigantic unfinished aqueduct exuding a certain romantic charm and surrounded by alleys of giant linden trees. White swans swimming around complete the idyllic décor…a haven of peace bathed in history.

An opera themed overnight stay

Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella got to sleep in castles and now you can turn those fairy tales into your own reality by staying in one of the opera-themed guest rooms of the Bergerie de l’Aqueduc. Named Traviata, Tosca, Romeo & Juliet and Tristan & Isolde, these rooms are unique, individually decorated with furnishings which evoke a period of a bygone era. An orchestral welcome awaits from the hosts: bella Martine Della Roca and her cantante husband Jean-Philippe Lafont, an internationally renowned baritone. In summer, breakfast and snacks are served in the garden by the swimming pool. Just relax, indulge all of your live-like-royalty dreams for a weekend and enjoy your very own happily ever after.
